High-performance sustainable building materials for Vancouver & the Sea-to-Sky.
High-performance sustainable building materials for Vancouver & the Sea-to-Sky.
High-precipitation environments demand exterior envelopes that actively manage moisture without degrading. We source 100% natural, vapour-open materials that deliver sustained thermal performance and unmatched durability for custom builds.
Thermally Stable: Consistent R-value that does not degrade.
Moisture Resilient: Highly breathable, vapour-open structure.
Carbon Negative: 100% natural, renewable carbon sink.
Builders, architects, and Passive House designers in British Columbia demand materials that perform flawlessly in our unique coastal-transition climate. Casa Veda Imports is proud to supply the Lower Mainland, Squamish, and Whistler with premium Expanded Corkboard Insulation (ICB).
Manufactured in Portugal by Isocor, our rigid cork panels provide unmatched thermal stability, acoustic dampening, and moisture management without the use of synthetic binders, petrochemicals, or flame retardants. Whether you are specifying continuous exterior insulation (outsulation) for a custom net-zero build or managing a deep energy retrofit, Casa Veda is your dedicated, local supply partner.
Expanded cork is not just an alternative to EPS and XPS foams; it is a fundamental upgrade in building science. By steam-baking natural cork granules, the material expands and binds using only its natural resins (suberin). The result is a highly durable insulation block that outperforms traditional plastics across the board:
Vapor Permeable (Breathable): Unlike closed-cell foams that trap moisture, cork allows your wall assembly to dry outwards, severely reducing the risk of mold and rot in BC’s humid climate.
Carbon-Negative Footprint: Cork oak forests sequester vastly more carbon than is emitted during production. Specifying cork instantly lowers the embodied carbon of your project, aligning perfectly with the BC Zero Carbon Step Code.
Zero Thermal Drift: Petrochemical foams lose their R-value over time as chemical blowing agents off-gas. Cork maintains its thermal resistance (R-3.6 to R-4.0 per inch) for the entire lifespan of the building.
Acoustic Dampening: Cork’s unique cellular structure provides incredible sound absorption (Class D), making it ideal for multi-family builds, urban infills, and acoustic partitions.
Non-Toxic & Safe: Achieves an A+ VOC rating with zero added formaldehyde, HFCs, or chemical fire retardants.
Exterior Rainscreens & Facades (50mm - 100mm+): Ideal for continuous exterior insulation (outsulation) behind your cladding system.
Interior Retrofits & Acoustic Walls (20mm - 50mm): Perfect for interior wall linings, basement retrofits, and high-performance sound dampening.
Roofing & Under-Slab (Custom Thicknesses): Highly compressive and dimensionally stable for flat roof assemblies and floor joist insulation.
Currently stocking 50mm boards locally in Squamish. Custom thicknesses (10mm to 300mm) are available for direct import on a per-project basis.
